Great product

My Dad used to have a rock tumbler when I was young, so I decided to get one for the family. The package contains the booklet 'Professional Gemstone Tumbling' which is a MUST-READ before starting (especially if you're a complete beginner like me). You might need to buy a buy a plastic colander and some ivory soap (as recommended in the booklet), but for the most part the package contains everything you need.I didn't treat this product as a toy, so I made sure I familiarized myself with all the steps before I began. Still, I let the first grind go for 3 days before opening the barrel when the booklet specifically states to 'open the barrel after 24 hours to release any slight amount of gas built up'. This caused the barrel lid to leak so I'm making sure I don't make the same mistake again. And when they say 'clean the barrel and stones thoroughly to remove all traces of the course grit slurry' to avoid scratching the stones in later steps, they mean it!It takes about a month to get the finished product, so you must be patient. Plus, this is messy business, so be prepared to get your hands dirty and heed the warnings not to pour the slurry down the drain (I didn't, but I can see how many people would be tempted to do so). Still, the first set of rocks turned out great and the kids loved them. We are already on our second batch after cleaning the unit and oiling it as the guide suggested. They recommend maintaining a logbook to keep track of the times and stone tumbled and any other information you wish to add. This is a great idea and keeps the family interested while the rocks tumble.Great product for the family. Works exactly as advertised.

Great Learners Rock Tumbler

After starting as a novice and I still am, I asked some people at a rock show in Oregon to make recommendations and their first was Lortone. I went online with Amazon and picked one because it came with some extras. It is great fun and we are just finishing our first start to finish rock polishing. For anyone starting this is the one. It does take time - don't think that magic - the rock tumbles a few times and it is done. There are stages that are explained and each stage may be at least five full days of tumbling. Patience is the name of the game and this kit with the four grits gave us a great view of the process.

1st Rock Tumbler! I love it!

i've been wanting a rock tumbler since i was a child,i have a collection of rocks of probably 150+ so my husband finally bought me one.i did about 3 days of review searches and reviewing the top brands and this kept coming up so i decided to try it since it was also a kit with grit and stone, etc. when i opened the box i instantly decided my collection of rocks had to wait because i wanted to use what they sent.it had rocks i had never seen before,just interesting and awesome.i started tumbling right away.directions are easy to fallow.i did call the number on the back of the booklet because when i 1st put the barrel on the spinning bars it'd stop spinning, but they were sweet and knew the product..but if i would of read the full booklet i would have known i jst needed to tighten the belt! lol it took me 2 min to tighten the belt and i was rock tumbling! i would recomend this to anyone who enjoys rocks/rock tumbling.I ALSO WANT TO SAY IT IS SO QUIET! MY DRYER MAKES MORE NOISE!!

This ring is beautiful. I was nervous about buying jewelery online. I did a lot of research about diamond quality and what I could afford for my fiance's wedding band, and decided to take that info and buy from a store IRL. Everything I saw, at multiple stores, was either ridiculously expensive for near flawless pieces, or ridiculously expensive for utter crap. I decided to take a risk with this ring, as it was a good quality(do the research, folks. Don't settle for the poor color/cut/occluded stuff)that was also affordable. The ring is beautiful. It looks a million times BETTER in person than the picture. If you don't have a crap ton of money but want to get your lady a beautiful ring, this is the one. Do it!

Essential tool for serious hiker, climber, adventure racer

I've owned the Suunto Vector for more than three years after purchasing it when I first became interested in adventure racing. While many top racers wear it, I would highly recommend it for the serious hiker, climber or backcountry skier for it's solid construction, design and versatility.While I also wear this as my everyday watch, it's extra large size should be taken into consideration if that's something you have in mind.There are a couple other brands available in this market segment, but the relatively low price and exceptional feature set are what continues to set this tool apart from the crowd.Here's what you should know:* Expect to replace the battery at least once a year. This is due to a number of reasons, one of which is the powerful backlight on the face that when activated can nearly illuminate the inside of a small tent at night. If you believe the manufacturer's warnings and want to play it safe, you may want to have this procedure performed by a professional (watch, not outdoor) shop. Suunto sells a battery pack that comes with a replacement seal and screw-in back, and this is definitely something to consider every other replacement opportunity, but you can get by with a lower-cost Duracell type 2430 3V lithium if you're on a budget.* The altimeter is one of the strongest features, allowing you to quickly pinpoint your location on a topo map. However, plan to reset it regularly, especially after a plane ride or frequent and significant changes in altitude, or weather. This is rather easy as along as you have a confirmed location metric, but you have to remember to do it regularly to ensure the greatest accuracy. The 24-hour memory provides a total measurement of your ups and downs (ascents and descents) over that time period, a really cool record for runners, mountain bikers and skiers.* The compass is one of the strongest in this class of devices, which to be sure isn't the greatest to begin with ... but even the serious orienteerer would be impressed. The ability to adjust for local declination is really nice.* The barometer is good, but not great. However, if you want to be aware of potential weather changes, this will provide you with some peace of mind. Better to be safe than sorry (or worse) in this regard.* The thermometer isn't accurate at all unless you take the watch off for 15-20 minutes or so to eliminate the warming effect of your skin/body temperature.* Some of the controls and settings are not easy to comprehend or remember. I've never been able to figure out how to use the stopwatch, timer and lap features. If you're a swimmer or triathlete and this is important to you, look to the Timex Ironman standby.* Waterproofing is rock solid. No worries.* The soft-rubber watchband is comfortable to wear, but will deteriorate over time, even more rapidly in chlorine. Suunto offers a much lighter nylon/velcro alternative that I personally prefer.Overall, I really like the Vector. But for a number of reasons already mentioned, would not feel comfortable giving it a perfect 5.0 score. But consider my 4.0 more like a 4.7 ... you can't go wrong here.

Do yourself a favor..

... and buy a GPS instead. I agree with previous reviewer (Dave57), I WOULD NEVER BUY A SUUNTO AGAIN. Worst than Dave, I simply got caught in heavy rain during a hike and my Vector was full of water, couldn't even tell the time. I send it to Suunto Finland for repair and they say that it leaked from the housing and "kindly" offered a repair for 140 Euros.

I had a Suunto for 10 months. The face scratched VERY easily which was disappointing. However the worst thing is after swimming in a pool that I could stand up in the watch FILLED with water and died. On returning to Suunto they refused to fix it under warrantee because swimming is not covered ! They say the forces created by swimming are to much for this watch and it was never designed for this purpose, despite the sales literature saying it is water proof to 100m. I WOULD NEVER BUY ANOTHER SUUNTO PRODUCT. Whatsmore the shop I bought it from say they have lots returned for the same reason and non of them were fixed under warranty either. It is also very difficult to use and you cannot hear the alarm at all.

Wanna know the trick to cleaning brass shells with a tumbler?

If you are looking at this to clean shells then look no further.THIS is an AWESOME tool to clean shells and it chugs along making a low noise but it works great.The quality of this device is great. Yes the 6 wingnuts used to screw the lid shut could use improving but that is not a dealbreaker. The HEXAGON barrel agitates the inside contents rather well. There are also many places that will sell you replacement parts for EVERYTHING on it. Once you see how it works you might even be able to change out the motor for a stronger one and thus clean more at a time...There is only 1 thing wrong with this device. It needs to be STRONGER.This is a 15 lb unit meaning that it will spin 15 lbs and that 15 lbs includes the barrel itself that weighs about 6 or more lbs. When you toss in 5 lbs of ss pins to clean shells and about 3 lbs of water that leaves you with about 1 lb of shells to put in.Let me help anyone out who wishes to wet clean their brass from the range.First locate sources for stainless steel tumbling media. You can find it for about $20-$35 for 5 lbs on the internet from various places. Worst case scenario you go to the stainlesstumblingmedia.com website or whatever it is called.Second get some LEMIshine (from Target stores or online) and some super concentrated Dawn Dishsoap (from Smart N Final) or any place that sells commercial grade cleaning things. Home Depot, Lowes, Ace, Etc...Next get a Media/Case Seperator that works well. I ordered the Lyman turbo for about $40 from Amazon.A 25 lb Postal scale is good to have too or any scale that can measure in OZ and lbs.Next get a Digital Countdown Timer. I got one from Amazon that is about $11 + $5 shipping As long as it will turn off the outlet after 4 hours you are good.Plug in the timer to the wall and the tumbler into the timer.Put the scale on a level surface, turn it on if needed and then put the lid with gasket on top and then the barrel and then the wingnuts.Next, put in about 2 lbs of ss media pins (about 1/8th x 3/8 in size) then put in shells to put the weight up to about 12 lbs next add in about 1 tablespoon of the concentrated dish soap (I use DAWN) and then about 1/2tsp of lemishine and fill up the water till you get about 14 lbs 12 oz.Next take it all of the scale, tighten the lid down finger tight and turn on the timer until you get 4 hours and that should start the motor of the tumbler. Put the barrel on the rollers and let it roll for 4 hours. Come back and it will be shut off when it is ready.Remove the top but be careful that the pins do not go everywhere because they will be stuck to the top as well and they are light enough to not always fall through the soap. Pour out the mixture into your case seperator and fill it with water until there is enough water to keep the shells on the bottom wet or as high as it will go without flowing out. Spin your seperator slowly and after a few seconds or minutes most of the pins should be on the bottom and out of the shells. Rinse out the pins and get some clean water inside and put them back in and repeat the process all over again.If you wanna be slick you can keep another container with ss media pins on the side and when you dump out these you can just put in the new ones on the scale and fill it up and be running again in a few minutes and then take your time sorting out the stuff you dumped out.Good luck and happy cleaning. I am VERY happy that I bought this. I never had a vibrator type of cleaner but I hear they can be very dusty. There is NO dust with this and you can reuse your ss media forever and ever and ever and ever...***** UPDATE***** 04/13/2012HOLY SMOKES! If you look at your tumbler and see the motor is a 1550 RPM motor and you want to use it for shells, CHECK THIS OUT! Contact Thumbler and ask to get a high speed tumbling motor for the Model B. It spins at about 3000 RPM and will KILL my previous review.I purchased the upgraded motor for about $67.00 (which is the proper motor to use for tumbling brass shell casings) and after 3-4 days it arrived. I swapped it out and now I just did the following:Put the barrel on my scale, tarred it out to be 0, then added about 600+ 9mm shells, added the 2-3lbs of ss media, about a tablespoon or two of concentrated DAWN dish soap, then about a half a teaspoon of LEMISHINE that I got from the local store, then added in about 3/4 of the barrel of water and my CONTAINER weight was about 13 lbs. I could have put in a full gallon of water but I wanted room at the top. I spun this baby with my outlet digital timer set to 2 hours. When I came back and opened it up I WAS MARVELED.Check out my photos and be marveled! Then go and by the dvd box set of Hyperdrive from amazon. Decap your shells while watching a good comedy, toss them into the tumbler and then use the Lyman media seperator (see my other review) to sort things out. I bought two of those three things from Amazon.com. Enjoy the photos.

I have an older model of this product, like 20yrs older. lol But these things are built to last. Not plastic. If something does manage to mess up, well it's easily fixed. Long story short, for all those who love to polish their own stones (lapidary), this thing is great. Beginners and more experienced alike will have hours of enjoyment out of this.

More than 20 years ago in Manila, my brother and i got to compete in R/C racing.Mine was the Grasshopper and his was the ever durable Hotshot.It was one heck of a vehicle which he lent me from time to time.Being young and inexperienced, i slamed this baby on gutters and sidewalks several times, but it didnt seem to bother it at all. Sure it was heavier than AE's RC10 but as for durability, i can say nothing more. A blast from the 4WD past.Recently, i got myself this re-issue version. I noticed it almost looked the same, minus the ceramic resistors just below the wing. Brings me back to the days when after a competition and i pick it up, i drop it a few feet back on the ground because my hand gets scalded from those resistors. Now they are just there to complete the look.Im collecting now. I first bought the RC10 - the one that beat us up most of the time in races. I couldnt afford one then, but now i got one to start off the collection. Intended for me, I eventually had my son play with it since i knew there was something else i wanted. Then i stumbled on the re-issued Hotshot, and i have never been so happy. It took me and my son the whole day bringing it to life. A good bonding project.The Grasshopper and The Frog is next. Im getting my credit cards ready as i'll be purchasing these two soon here at Amazon.

The stone is a polished cabochon- so it's traditionally set to fit the stone properly, not the other way around. The (very slightly) imperfect setting looks natural and beautiful. I was shocked when I realized that I had never left this feedback for the item as a product review. Whoops!As a result of now owning this ring for over a year- I have much info to contribute.I am still very happy with this purchase. It should be known that I am a terrible jewelry owner. I don't take my rings off to wash dishes, knead dough, and I sometimes leave jewelry on in the shower, swimming pool, and sulphur-rich hot springs while on vacation. This ring has not only survived all of this torture but it still looks great and I still receive complements on it. Oh, I also wear this ring EVERY TIME I LEAVE THE HOUSE. It is awesome.Needless to say, I'm on Amazon to look for more jewelry and my first stop is West Coast. I am very confident that if I find something else to suit my fancy, that I will be leaving equally positive feedback for that item as well. (Hopefully, I'll remember to submit my review in a timely matter!)

No quality control.

I bought this ring with matching earrings and pendant all at the same time. I loved the simple style of the ring. I was very satisfied with both the earrings and the pendant, however very dissatisfied with the quality of the ring. I ended up sending the ring back 3 times (I paid out of pocket return shipping, as well as paying $5.99 each time to get an exchange ring shipped back) which took a months' time. The problems I had with the ring was the stone was rough and dull-not a high polish shiney finish like the earrings and pendant, the second ring was terribly lopsided (it wasn't round and didn't fit comfortably on my finger), and the third one was ridiculously oversized (I had bought it to fit on my ring finger and it was loose on my index finger!). I ended up buying a different styled ring from a different seller that I didn't like as much, but at least the fit and quality were fine.

The photo of the ring online does not do it justice. The ring is very pretty and much nicer than the photo appeared. This was for my daughters birthday and she loved it. We were both very happy with the product!

This company really strives to please customers.18K Yellow Gold along with the brilliant diamonds. The sparkle and flashing colors of the diamonds actually had me holding it and just watching the diamonds.My wife said that the ring is {delicate and beautiful}.This company and the ring deserve 10 stars.

Very shiny and beautiful

More than met my expectations. I got it to replace my wedding band that my one-year old lost. I like this new band much better! The diamonds are very clear and shiny. They just sparkle. Excellent quality for the price. I'm glad I upgraded to 1/3 ct. and to the G/VS2. When looking for diamonds, make sure you understand the ratings for cut, color, and clarity (brief search on the internet will get you what you want). I felt so much better making this purchase after I learned a little bit about what to expect. You just can't go by a picture as a zoomed-in picture will often make a diamond seem clearer and larger than what it is in real life. But the picture here is spot on, except, of course, the diamonds appear larger than what they are, as the ring's picture is enlarged. But I'm very happy with this ring and hope to get a new, larger solitaire to go with it soon!
