You get what you pay for

After having 2 chinese belt sanders give up the ghost, I finally bought one of these (from another vendor). I wish I had bought this first. The quality of this sander is dramatically better than those other sanders.This sander is as basic as it can get. It is solid and should last for years and years. You have to mount it to something to use it. It comes fully assembled.The Baldor motor is American made, and is fully sealed against the abrasive dust thrown off by the belt. It is fan cooled, and is plenty powerful enough for my needs.You can change a belt in about 15 seconds including getting the belt to track where you want it. My sander has a cover for the top pulley that is not shown in the picture. The cover flips up so you can change the belt.The belt tension is provided by a spring in the column that holds up the top pulley. Tension is not adjustable.I use the belt sander for sharpening. It would be nicer if the belt went the other way so I can sharpen the knives edge up and rest my hands on the tool rest. Having said that, when I sharpen lawnmower blades and other big items it is nice that the sparks go downwards. I'll probably build my own tool rest since holding the angle is critical for maximum sharpness. I haven't used the provided tool rest. It is adjustable with a wrench. I don't imagine that it would be convenient to adjust frequently.You can see video on sharpening at kosterknives.com under 'how to sharpen a convex microbevel'. It isn't as easy as it looks, but after some practice you should end up with really sharp tools. Our pruning shears, scissors, axe, kitchen knives, etc are all much easier to use now. I got my sanding belts (down to 9 micron) from leevalley.com. It looks like trugrit.com might be cheaper though.'The Complete Guide to Sharpening' by Leonard Lee recommends using a belt sander for sharpening chisels and knives and such. The book 'Sharpening' by Nick Engler shows a chisel sharpening jig setup - but you would have to reverse the direction the belt travels.

Best sharpening tool you will ever buy

I have been using my new Kalamzoo belt grinder for knife and tool sharpening for the last four months. The machine is a quiet, solid machine that does not sound like it will shake itself apart like the " Harbor Freight" belt grinders do. This machine uses a high quality Baldor motor which is all ball bearing and sealed for life. Using fine sanding belts ( up to 1000 grit) and a leather belt for polishing, this machine will put a razor edge on any knife or woodworking tool. With very little practice I was able to sharpen all my knives,the neighbors knives and all my buddies hunting knives and tools to an edge which will literally shave the hair from your arm with no problem. Also if you are interested in knife making,[...] makes a nice add on for this grinder which turns it into a horizontal belt grinder which is able to create the grinding processes used in knife fabrication. If you are looking for a great small belt grinder that will out last you ( and probably your kids) this is the machine for you. I have had a lot of fun with my little grinder and made my friends and neighbors happy with razor sharp knives.

GREAT BELT SANDER!!

I love this sander. It is very well designed. Very easy to setup. Changing belts is so simple (I can swap out a belt in about 10 secs). And it operates very quietly.I got this sander because the price of 1x30 belts is nearly the same as 1x42 belts. Granted you can get a 1x30 sander for much less than what this costs, but you will end up spending a fortune on belts. The 1x42 belts have 40% more belt so they will last a good bit longer.The only thing I would change on this sander is the ability to swap out different size contact wheels. The 4" contact wheel does make for nearly perfect belt speed but there are times when a little faster and/or slower would be nice.I use this sander primarily for sharpening. There are plenty of belts out there but Klingspor's Gold are the best. 3M's belts are ok but they are more expensive and don't last as long (even their new Trizact belts). There are also 1x42 leather belts. You can make your pocket knife literally shaving sharp with these. Very easy to do both flat and convex grinds.There are slightly less expensive 1x42 sanders out there but this is definitely a case of getting what you pay for.I wish I had gotten this sander sooner.

Much brighter than my previous lamp

With the previous lamp I had for my Epson projector, we frequently had to turn off the lights to be able to view much with it. When it konked out, we looked all over the net and this was the best price we found. When we got it, I installed it and I could immediately tell that it was brighter. I can leave the lights on now during normal TV viewing.

No question the product is good, but seriously consider the cost. If it wasn't for the fact that Cali schools have no money we could buy a new projector for the cost of two replacement lamp ... And the new projector would be of great technology advances.

Bright Light!

We had actually ordered the light knowing that our current one was going out...the old one blew up a day or two before the new one came. Replacing the bulb was easy, came with easy to follow directions and took minutes to install. Our only complaint is the cost...these things are not cheap and when you put a new, expensive bulb in your projector, you really think about how you are going to cut back on the hours you use it. Otherwise, we are very happy!

I bought this from Fry's 5 years ago and it's still running. came with 3 front speakers that are great and 4 speakers for the back that are junk. i was ready to upgrade it with a Pioneer vsk 1021, but the sound clarity and power of the HTR530 is superior. they were both connected via optical cable first to my ps3 then to a computer. i end up returning the Pioneer. doesn't have the hdmi, but my tv has 4 and along with the logitech harmony 880 remote I really don't need it

Nice, solid, good sound, but not very modern

I've owned the receiver for years and have enjoyed its sound, power, and function. It has been moved into my bedroom to run sound for my cablebox, tv, and iPod. It works for this purpose just fine. It is not, however, up to date with technology. One would most likely desire a more full set of HDMI switches, app-driven controls, and network interactions. The prices I've seen on this unit (between 150-200) make it a decent price for a garage, bedroom, or workshop. For a little less than twice the price, one can get a phenomenal multi-media control for their main living area or home theater.

It's a "rock"

Purchased this receiver along with HT-S780 theater package. Unless you need all of your video to run as HDMI from receiver, it works very, very well. There are three optical audio connections so you should be good hooking up DVD/ Cable / etc.The set up is color coded and fairly easy.Sound is far better than average and definitely good enough for the average consumer.I have owned it for five years and have had ZERO issues. Continues to work flawlessly.Highly recommended.

A Puzzle for All Seasons

There really are 4 separately bagged 500 piece puzzles in one box, so this is a bargain of fun. The colors are bright and the folk art scenes are rewarding to do. Though the 4 puzzle bags are not labeled to identify which of the 4 seasonal scenes will appear upon completion, the plastic bags are see-through, so you can guess if you take a moment to look. Included also are 4 identical folded cards (with stickers and no envelopes) that show a small version of all 4 seasons at once. While some of Jane Wooster Scott's puzzles have thicker cork pieces, these do not. Nevertheless, once each puzzle was assembled, I was able to lift each one as a whole and move it from one table to another.

SCRATCH/JOG WHEEL NEEDS HELP

I was interested in a native controller for Virtual DJ that I could also do some low skill scratching. As a native controller in Virtual DJ the iCDX is excellent. It has the just the right functions to supplement what is available on the VDJ GUI. Looping and setting cue points controls are fantastic! There is a big problem that I encounter when I scroll through the effects selector. When I reach loop in I get a fault and VDJ has to be shut down and restarted. This is totally unacceptable for a live performance but totally avoidable by using the VDJ GUI to select the effect. The VDJ GUI actually has more controls for effects than the iCDX can present. The Scratch/Jog wheel is a bit of a let down. My biggest gripe with it is that it offers minimal grip. I can't stay at the scratch point because my fingers/hand slips on the wheel very easily. The wheel requires pressing down it to engage sratching. The downward pressure I have to apply plus the fact that it is not a spinning platter is something I'm practicing intensely to master. I have even purchased Jog Grips from DJ Tech Tools which are made for the Vestax VCI-100. It has worked but the Jog Grips are smaller than the area of the jog/wheel.Updating the iCDX firmware was a chore because Numark ISO images that must be downloaded from their site. Even though it says it is a ISO image file it actually has to be converted to an ISO image file. I found this out from Numark forums and after using 12 wasted CD-R discs. I don't use the CD/DVD player but for now the iCDX has the most versatile player available. That along with USB connectivity makes iCDX a winner.I strongly recommend the iCDX for any non-turntablist DJ, pro or otherwise! Turntablists should definitely look elsewhere

Works great!

I have vinyl siding and I power wash once a year. There are areas that are just too high that I can not reach where it began to grow green mold. I can now reach areas of my house that I could not reach before. My house has never been so clean. I might also add that some reviews suggested that it was hard to control. I am not a very strong man and I did not find it that difficult to manage. It will take some upper body strength but the easiest way I found to control it is to squeeze the trigger while it is on the ground and then raise it up to the area needing to be washed.

If you have ever pressure washed your vinyl siding on a ladder you know it is tiresome and a bit dangerous. With this you can do the whole job from the ground. It cut the time I spent in half and was far safer than working with an extension ladder!!

THE ONLY PROBLEM I HAVE WITH THIS IS THAT IT GETS A LITTLE HEAVY TO HANDLE WHEN FULLY EXTENDED. I HAVE A TWO STORY HOME WITH A SCREEN ENCLOSURE, MAKES IT A LOT EASIER CLEANING ALL THE ALUMINUM ON THE SCREEN ENCLOSURE, ALSO I HAVE THE CLEANEST SOFFITT,GUTTERS AND FACIA IN TOWN. WILL DEFINETLY RECOMMEND THIS PRODUCT

Nice looking and functional

We bought this as an additional (side table) for our office. It worked out great. It's not too large and super-easy to assemble. I give them credit for pre-assembling the drawer. Wood is very nice quality and we are very happy with this one. I guess 5-stars is in order.

Decent, but Expected More

I bought this unit for use on hikes, bike rides, and other similar outdoor activities. I've had it for a few months now, and overall, I'm only somewhat satisfied. Here's a list of pros and cons that have stuck with me so far:Pros:-easy to read/see color screen (even in bright sunlight)-highly customizable screens (types and amount of data shown on each screen)-fairly easy to learn and operate-many features, including barometric altimeter and electronic compassNow, the cons to this product may not be specific to this unit. It may be more a function of the limitations of GPS:-inaccurate (sometimes highly) "tracking" of horizontal position or trail actually traveled (I've compared to trail maps and Google Earth visible trails, and some of my tracks are inexplicably way off)-inaccurate barometric altimeter (sometimes hundreds of feet off. I've turned it on, and had elevation readings of -200 feet!!) which must be constantly calibrated. Also, if you calibrate at the bottom of a climb, by the time you reach the summit, it may be over 100' off.-very inaccurate odometer data, and inconsistencies in the data. For example, I recently hiked Half Dome, which is 4800' vertical gain...this unit only registered 1500' total ascent, but the begin elevation and end elevation shown were well over 1500' different. Also, on the same Half Dome hike, the odometer read 5 miles hiked, but the track total registered a more accurate 8.3 miles.-very "stiff" buttons.Again, the inaccuracy may be a function of the limitations of GPS, but the odometer inaccuracies in terms of total distance, total ascent, descent, etc. was disppointing. Perhaps Garmin needs to come up with another way of calculating these values. I think a lot of these values are calculated using current horizontal and vertical velocity, which may be inaccurate at any given moment. With inconsistencies at any given moment, it is difficult for the unit to calculate the actual horizontal and vertical distance traveled.In any case, overall, I would recommend this product for simple trail and waypoint marking. But it should be understood you will only get "general" information, and not anything resembling very accurate data.**EDIT** Garmin released a firmware patch in Feb of '08, and it has really helped with the accuracy of certain data. The total ascent data is much more accurate now, often within 100' of actual climbed distance (that may not seem so great, but it was horrible before). Also, the distance measurements are better. When I save a track, the distance per the track is much more close to the odometer reading, usually within a mile for a 10-15 mile hike (which again, is just ok, but better than before).Overall, the unit does seem to be more accurate in all ways now, perhaps due in part to this firmware update. Also, tracks seem to be more accurate in terms of comparing visually to maps. I'm more happy with the unit now, and would probably give it 4 stars if I reviewed it today.

We can use chargeable cells.Electronic Compass: Though does not function well, when unit is stationary, but extreamy helpful. You don't have to carry a compass.Altimeter: Very good feature. I found it pretty accurate.Final Reccomendation: Go for a slight higher range model which has SD card slot. For daily users, this model is more than sufficient.

Garmin Summit is great

In the summer I spend a lot of time on my horse in the Colorado Wilderness Areas. And yes, I have a way of mounting the GPS unit on the dashboard of my gelding. After 4 years hard service, my Garmin Legend quit. Improvements I found in my new Summit are impressive: color, faster satellite acquisition, and map orientation that matches the orientation of the unit. This last is possible only in the Summit which has the electronic compass lacking in other GPS models from Garmin. The commands are more intuitive and it works better in timber. With the new cable and drivers that came with the Summit, I was able to use my old MapSource CD to load contours.

The bulb is great, but if you use for more than 12 hours a day be prepared to buy bulbs every 4 months. Not intended for commercial use but still does a great job. nice bright colors.

A good choice

This is the best price I could find on a true EPSON lamp. I was willing to pay a bit more to get the exact replacement, and I'm not sorry I did. My picture is quite a bit brighter than my old lamp. I'm running in Eco Mode all the time now and even with a lamp or two on in the room, the image is quite good.

Brightness doesn't last

I had a review on this bulb and gave it 4 stars. I'm taking that back. I've run the projector for about 200 hrs and the brightness is lower than my original with 1600+ hrs on it. I've put the original bulb back in so I can use my projector again. This can't be the original bulb from Epson or I just got a lemmon!

One of my most favorite places on earth

I love The Meadow. So I guess this review is more about how much I adore this store, than it is about the salt (which by the way is fabulous). I got my order way faster than I expected, which was nice. I would recommend purchasing anything from these amazing folks, and even better if you can visit their lovely store in Portland. This is one of the most romantic stores that exists. Opening my box of truffle salt, and smelling that fragrant scent, was just not as magical as walking into their gorgeous store filled with flowers, salt, chocolate and wine. Ah, it is a taste of heaven.The salt's great. thanks Meadow people.
