3Quick Release-lever leaves to be desired
By Duppie
We bought this trailer for touring with our tandem as well as for allowing us to transport larger items on our bike.We have used it for a four day tour and multiple errand rides around town. The 28 version allows for use on bikes that have 700C wheels and fendersAssembly took 15-30 minutes and the trailer came with proper instructions. When riding you do not really notice the trailer all that much. If anything it makes the bike trail a little straighter. The hardest part of handling is the parking: Since it is near impossible to move the bike plus trailer backwards in a straight line you have to park the bike in such way that you can leave moving forward. Once you get used to that idea it is not that hard. The biggest negative are the QR Levers. I have two QR levers, one for a standard bike and one for a tandem (145mm wide). It is hard to tighten them enough so that the rear wheel won't come loose. Twice I have had an issue with it: once on a regular bike where the rear wheel came out of the dropouts when I left from a stoplight (causing me to fall); the other time on our tandem, where the wheel remained in the dropout but pulled out of a straight line, causing the tire to rub against the fender.Overall a useful trailer, but the QR lever could use a re-design

5Easy to use, nice looking and light
By etaoin
The Bob Yak was a last-minute solution for our baggage needs, with a bike that couldn't carry panniers. Capacity is pretty good. If you use the Yak bag (recommended) it will hold enough stuff to support a couple on a B&B weekend. A trip to the store for a week's worth of groceries for a family of three is a bit difficult, not capacity-wise, but for stability. The Yak gets a bit whippy if you have a lot of milk, canned food and other dense items. So there is a weight limit. Adhere to it and handling is excellent. I love how you can park your bike/trailer by turning it 90 degrees. The Yak bag seems sturdy, and has held up well against the vibrating frame. It is water resistant, but I haven't tested it in rain. The hub spindle hanger system is pretty easy to install and use. But because my rear dropout spacing was so narrow, I had to cut the spindle a little shorter, per the instructions. A Dremel tool came in handy for this. You can tap the cut end of the spindle with the spindle nut. Just sand the end or you will have a razor sharp end after you cut the spindle! If you want to use the Bob Yak with 700c wheels AND fenders, you will need the Yak 28.One weakness: the tire is not puncture resistant. You should do as we did; get a puncture-resistant tire like a Schwalbe marathon. You must also have proper patch kit with glue, not preglued patches...and a pump, or you may find yourself dead in the water. We had a flat on our first day and it was a pain.Addendum: If you replace the tire with a nicer one, make sure that you get an ISO 305 tire! Buying a 16" tire doesn't guarantee a fit. In other words, 16" tires are made with different radii (see Sheldon Brown's good explanation); the ISO size we got (also a 16") was too big to fit on the rim. Unfortunately, the 16" Schwalbe Marathon Plus is ISO 349. Don't buy it; it won't fit! Again, get an ISO 305 tire, or at least check with a dealer or B.O.B.first.Overall, a great accessory and highly recommended. Just needs a better tire.

5great trailer, will not fit offset wheels on fat bikes
By J. Granquist
BOB makes great stuff and have for years. This trailer went together in a snap and is well made and easy to use. On & off takes about 15 seconds once you have the skewer installed permanently on your rear hub.I was told by BOB that this trailer would work on my Surly Pugsley with fat 3.8" tires and offset rims as long as it had 140mm hubs, it should be fine.Well, it wasn't. I have a ton of clearance on one side and tire rub on the other. My rims are offset and so is my rear triangle, so add those up and it won't work.Sadness. Not BOB's fault, so no stars docked and I will keep looking. So FYI....if you have a fat bike with offset wheels and frame, this trailer will NOT work without modification(and thus, warranty voidance and danger of failure). But I wish it would!
