The terra cotta parts are, in fact, real and not hollow plastic. The tile work trim is very nice and matches the bowl's color very well. The packing by the manufacturer was done very well using bubble wrap and tie-down straps to firmly attach everything to a solid layer of cardboard. You'll have to work to cut the thing out.Assembly wasn't that hard following the pictures in the included manual. The pump is small but works well enough to set up a good flow of water. We placed some rocks we've collected around the state in the bottom bowl to hide the pump.The solar cell does require full sun to start up and keep going so the 10 foot or so cord helps mount the fountain where you want and put the solar cell where you need to get best sun. The solar cell comes with a ground stake or a flat mounting plate that can screw into a patio cover or the like for best view of the southern sky.The sound is rather nice with four "falls" from the jar and the three small bowls. Perfect!

We bought the Mosaic Terracotta Cascade Solar Fountain for our daughter. She loves it! However, when you are cleaning the fountain, make sure to remove the bowls from the top down, unhooking the pump from the top container first. If it is cloudy, the solar pump won't work, but the birds still love using the water in the bottom bowl for bathing. All of us are enjoying this fountain. If you put more rocks in the big bowl on the bottom, the birds will have an easier time, and you will waste less water.
