The IDEAL 61-521 3 Phase Motor Rotation Tester identifies three-phase sequence. It will check for motor rotation along with checking for open phases. This tester is rated for use up to 600-Volt and will meet IEC-1010 (EN61010) safety requirements. A carrying case is included in addition to a 2-year warranty. In 1916, J. Walter Becker started the Ideal Commutator Dresser Company of Chicago from his mother's kitchen. He manufactured commutator dresser stones with the belief that every product should be worth more than the price paid for it. Service, he said, was part of the product. Checks both live line & dead motor rotation with one unit.

In over forty years experience, I have used many three phase rotation and phase sequence testers but none as handy and complete as this unit. Having to turn the unit around and reconnect for motor rotation which is used on dead motor terminals to obtain correct mechanical rotation of the motor shaft helps save the meter from being connected to a live circuit. I use phasing tapes of the same color of the test leads with the meter for the line circuit and the motor circuit. That way when I connect up the motor to the line circuit all I do is match colors. I have used this with generators, paralleling capable switchboards and turbo compressors where the wrong electrical or mechanical rotation causes disasterous results. It is simple to use and gives positive results. Be sure to read the directions clearly printed on the face of the tester.
