5Tight, powerful enough for 400 square feet
By Holly Wells
Bought the PSW110 to complement my new TSi400's and CS10 center. Was unsure whether to go one model up for more power--that would have been completely unnecessary. Calibrated properly, it kicks out enough clean, tight thump to rattle your windows (if that's what you want... I don't, so much). I don't even have the volume halfway up, and it's as much bass as I can take in a 20'x20' room with carpet over concrete floor, and 12' ceilings. Don't get me wrong--the TSi400's have good low end on their own, and I probably could have done without a sub--but I'm glad I shelled out $250 for this one. It sits nicely behind the TV stand and fills the room with a tight foundation. Coupled with the towers and the center for home theater, it covers the bases nicely. I might still shop for some satellites for surround, but honestly, this speaker setup is intended more for music than home theater. Also, the cherry finish is gorgeous--not that anyone sees it back there!

2Wrong Cherry Tint
By HT
I haven't used this product yet but the cherry color is a wrong match for my Cherry colored Polk Rti series. I wish I had a heads up on this before buying.

4Great Sub for Music - IF SET UP CORRECTLY
By T
Electronics - Denon AVR 1312, Sony BDP S-380,Speakers - Dali Zensor 1 Bookshelf and Polk PSW 110 Sub. I also use a Bass Room EQ device called Antimode Cinema.Although originally intended for HT, I currently use my equipment for 2.1 Stereo Music listening onlyPoint to note :Read up on the antimode Cinema as that is feeding the Bass going to the Polk and hence using the sub without one will certainly be a different experience.Review:Exterior : Looks great. Solid Build, The cherry veneer is very nicely done but a touch on the brighter side. All the dials, connectors and inputs are neatly presented behind the sub and easy to use. The feet provide a decent grip for the most part but for heavy duty bass I have noticed it "walking" a bit. I have the sub placed on an Auralex subdude.Placement : Extremely important, makes a big difference to the quality of bass. Read a few articles on positioning subwoofers and keep experimenting with corners and sides till you get the sound you like. It took me more than 2-3 weeks of moving furniture and speakers around to finally nail it. Trust me the effort is worth it. This is good advice for any subwoofer by the way.Settings : Initially I had the Sub connected to my AVR, and IMO the bass was boomy and had a 1 note feel to it. That was what led me to a study of room acoustics (loudspeaker interaction with the room), the benefits of parametric EQ, Crossovers and limiters and then I landed up with the Dspeaker Antimode cinema Sub EQ.Tip - Use AVR distance settings to compensate for Phase anamolies. Google Phase / AVR distance to get more information on that topic.DONT GIVE UP ON THE SUB IF YOUR BASS IS NOT SATISFACTORY - CHECK YOUR ROOM ACOUSTICS AND CONSIDER BASS TRAPS AND ROOM EQ. Read up on both - Very very important. Here's where the Antimode cinema played a big part.SOUND : I have set the crossover on the AVR to 90 Hz and I hear the clear Thump of the kick drum, lovely walking bass lines, No boomy one notes but enough vibrations to make it sound dangerous. Please note that I DO NOT have this quality of sound when directly connected to my AVR so my inference is that the sound I am hearing is a result of the signal going through the DSP on the Antimode, and correct settings all round. In closing :Dont give up on this sub if it is not performing as you would like it to out of the box. Break it in for a couple of days. Read Read Read on settings, Experiment on Positioning, Check your room acoustics and finally once you have it all set up right (which could happen right out of the box for you or it can take close to two months as it did for me) you can sit down and listen to the most amazing bass you have heard in audio. The reason I gave it 4 stars and not 5 is because of all the work that was involved in getting me to where I am now.I wish you all the best in your search for good sound.Tarun.Bangalore, India.
