A Bargain
By James R. Braukmann
I've used a few of these mics over several years for live recording. They have an open bright sound that has worked very well for a number of things, including piano and horns. The ability to switch patterns, cardioid to omnidirectional, is useful and not often found in a mic at this price range. I started with two, and after hearing the results, bought two more to loan to my digital sound students. Note that you may want to buy a good shock mount for the mic, but those are often found under $20 these days.

Nady 960 Good, but not great.
By Intuitions
I'm still experimenting with this mic, but I've found that it gives a very decent warm sound. Hook it into a tube pre-amp and I'm sure you'll have heaven. My mic had a strange movement inside. Hard to describe, but it was like the switches were mobile in some way and I could hear it move back and forth as I leaned the mic one direction to the other. Anyway, I don't think it's supposed to be like that, I might have a reject. Overall sound is good- just make sure your switches are working properly.Update 3-21-13I ordered a second mic because mine was defective. I'm not satisfied with the sound I'm getting. It's not quite as warm as I need it to be. In fact, I think it's very flat and distant sounding, even with close ups. I've decided to sell it off and use my trusted Beyer Dynamic M-88 those are awesome mics.
