ultimate tactical garment

If you're looking for a comfortable and stylish garment that can be worn in both social events and combat look no further. I bought ten of these turtlenecks in black, my only complaint is that they don't come in a slightly darker black as well. I always feel as if I can take on the world when I'm wearing one of these "tactilenecks" as I call them.

I do electrical work in cold, remote locations. Merino wool has long been my favorite base layer. It is very warm, wicks moisture like synthetics, is relatively fire retardant (compared to synthetics) and doesn't hold a smell like polyester during those unfortunate times when showering regularly isn't an option. The only real disadvantage I can think of is that some care must be taken when drying wool. It hang drys fairly quickly.I have owned a lot of merino stuff and while I have only had this shirt for a couple weeks, so far it is one of my favorites. It is made of a relatively soft (non itchy) wool. I am not use to wearing a turtleneck but this, in my opinion, has a very comfortable collar. I don't even feel like I am wearing a turtleneck. Worn under a button up shirt offers a very professional look. In black warn with a black watch cap will give that sought after French art thief look 8492 Genuine US Navy Black Wool Watch Cap. But seriously this is a very nice garment, good looking and functional.Note that this runs a little big. I have to buy some shirts in medium and some in small. I got this one in small and it fits perfect.

I use this top as a baselayer for cycling. I cannot praise this clothing highly enough. With just this layer and a light wind shell jacket on top, it is comfortable for cycling from the low 50s to high 70s. At higher temps, I simply unzip my outer windbreaker to regulate temperature. This is the first merino wool layer that I've ever tried, so I can't compare it to more cycling-specific brands. However, it works so well and is easily half or even 1/3rd the price from those brands. I don't want to wear anything else now from late fall to early spring.One note, the cut is fairly generous, so a medium felt more like a large. I would properly buy a small size for my next purchase.
