Good but specialized

Brake rotors are getting so cheap many people just replace them when doing a brake job. With this tool I was able to tell that my rotors, with nearly 80k miles, were hardly worn nearly paying for cost of the tool right there. The dial gauge was what I really bought the kit for. Since these rotors were new their had been a barely noticeable pulse in the pedal. The dial gauge confirmed that my rotors had .0035" runout over the .002" spec. I also suspect this is why the rubber bushings the caliper pins ride on failed. I will buy some brake rotor shims for about $30 a pair (whenever they get back in stock) and have a rotor that behaves probably better than when I bought it. I will be sure to check all my new rotors for runout. In addition it can also help diagnose a bad wheel bearing. Just check to make sure your rotors are not thicker than 1.3". Fowler makes a micrometer that measures thicknesses up to 1.7".

ok but no instructions

I got no instructions with the fowler gauge. I contacted the vendor but they did not respond back. Eventually I figured it out, but wasted time.

Cheap case

My only complaint is the case it comes with. The inside is cheap plastic, not foam as it is shown in the picture.
