I've had smartwool and other expensive brands--this one tells you right upfront how thick it is in grams and it is way better than anything else I've owned. In short, it's FABULOUS. I love the thing. I wear it like a sweater rather than an undergarment. It cuts the wind, it's soft, machine washable, has handy half gloves--highest quality product I've ever seen in wool. Recommended without reservation. It's awesome. Oh--and it's long enough to tuck in. Nothing worse than an undergarment or sweater that lets in breezes. This has you covered.

At first the higher price made me balk a bit. But I decided to purchase the merino wool expedition weight full zip top anyway and boy am I glad I did. This top is by far the best thermal type top that I've ever owned. It's heavy and warm. I am extremely pleased with the quality of this top. I would highly recommend this item for anyone considering the purchase of a high quality thermal top. You'll be glad you did.

Very warm, keeps me dry, easy on and easy off with the zipper. I like the holes in the sleeve ends for my thumbs, covers most of my hand just not my fingers. 100% wool which is what I need for my job in case of arc flashes.
