it works!

We used to live in the desert southwest where air-drying sweaters after washing took only a couple hours. In the humid midwest, they take 2-3 days, and that's laying them out on a drying rack with a fan aimed at them, and could only do one at a time.The hamilton beach drying station seemed like a great idea, so we gave it a try. We got the model with 5 mesh shelves but no hangers (we heard the hangers don't work so well). We loaded each shelf with a heavy cotton sweater and turned the unit on around 10:30am. By bedtime that night, the sweaters were mostly but not quite all dry, so we let it run over night. The next morning, all 5 sweaters were completely dry. We much prefer drying 5 sweaters in under 24 hours to drying one sweater in 2-3 days. (People who expect their sweaters to dry in a few hours, sorry, that's just not realistic - unless you're living in Phoenix or Vegas.)Setup took 15 minutes and was pretty easy. To store the unit, you must remove the 5 racks (which is very easy), though we have an empty spare bedroom near the laundry room so we just leave the unit set up all the time.It's cheaper to order directly from hamilton beach's website - they offer free shipping, good prices, and have a return policy if you don't like it.The unit isn't perfect. The surface area of each shelf is smaller than I'd like. My XL-sized sweaters barely fit on them, and that's with folding the sleeves over. I would have gladly paid more for a unit with bigger shelves.That said, we highly recommend this product (more specifically, the 5-shelf unit without the extra hangers). We also recommend you consider ordering from hamilton beach's website, especially since Amazon only sells them through 3rd party sellers, who can't always be counted on for the same excellent service you get from Amazon.

The product itself, which is essentially a fan circulating air through the five mesh levels, does dry clothes much faster. It takes up very little space, so it's particularly useful for keeping smaller dwellings looking neat--- beats hanging underwear in the bathroom. The reason it doesn't get five stars is because the hangers do not sit securely on the mesh trays; the hangers have grooves which sit on the metal tubes which make up the edges of the mesh trays, but the hangers are easily dislodged (not a good idea if there are kids around). Overall it's quite useful.

Great product, dried my cotton sweaters in 3 hours! Quality parts, not a piece of junk. Must-have for laundry room or apartment even! Lingerie, stockings, underthings were dry in 20 minutes. It is difficult to store, which is why I gave it 4 stars instead of 5, but it's not an issue for me.
