Nice little bi-directional digital TV amp
By JHK
When the latest Cable TV Act became law in 1994, I installed a complete cable distribution system in my home that fed cable to every room. We used a whole-house amplifier and fed an 8-way splitter. It was great until the DTV conversion. Our cable supplier eventually dropped all analog TV service. Only TVs with either a set-top box, a digital transport adapter or a QAM tuner (to receive baseband TV channels) would work. I had to abandon the old analog whole-house amp and move to a digital amp that had a backchannel (return path) for communication with the set-top box and with the DTAs. (Those are two-way devices and must be validated by and communicate with the cable company's servers). I chose this little guy and it works nicely. I also swapped the original 8-way splitter for a low loss 8-way splitter/combiner (to support two-way communications).

This product arrived promptly, installed quite easily, performed as advertised and is adjustable to boot. I wish all items that I sought were straightforward like this.
