Great upgrade option

I had been holding off on upgrading my 50-720 dust collector with this filter due to shipping costs to Hawaii, but with this product now being sold by Amazon there was no longer any reason to wait! The product installed fairly easily. The throughput of the dust collector is now much higher, although I am sure that this will drop as the filter gets clogged up. The dust collector now captures most of the dust from by table saw (Ridgid cast iron top contractor saw, closed up, sealed and strategically vented to allow dust collection). So, as far as first impressions go this is a great product, and it does as much as it can do with a low powered dust collector. All of my duct runs are of minimal length, less than 8' and I have a home-made chip separator installed directly below the 50-720 input port.I used the extra length of self-adhesive foam provided with the kit on the lip used to secure the bottom bag of the dust collector. This helps to make a better seal with the plastic dust bags that *should be used* with this canister filter (Delta does not specify this, but I think it's pretty obvious). I am currently using the 50-721 bags.BTW, don't buy the 50-720 with the idea you are going to save money. I bought this dust collector because it was all I could find, period, at the time on the Big Island without bringing in a special order and I needed it like ...yesterday. Also, it has a relatively small footprint which works well in my garage setup with all of my tools on wheels. I've been putting up with it, but it certainly was not my first choice. A 1.5 to 2 HP unit is generally the minimum you want to use with any shop equipped with a table saw of any description or a thickness planer. 1 HP units simply cannot move enough air; you want >1200 CFM for decent dust collection, add more capacity if a cyclonic separator is installed. That being said, the 50-720 can be made to work if you are willing to put up with some dust in the room - canister filter installed, or not. If you care about your health and are working for hours on end, you better wear a dust-mask (probably true, even with the larger systems) even if the air "looks" clean....A few things you won't find in the manual.

I bought this filter on an Amazon sale. It replaced the stock bag on my Delta Ap400. The stock bag filtered down to 30 microns. This pleated filter with interior flap cleaner filters down to 2 microns. My shop is now much healthier and cleaner.

I've been looking at this air cleaner for couple mos and finally decited to buy it. I am very happy with this purchase, 100% cleaner shop and also noticed increased air flow thru my AP400 Delta Dust Collector. Installed in 3 mins!!! Buy it!!
