Good middle-of-the-road motherboard

Being at the cutting edge of computers can be expensive. Being TOO far behind can be frustrating in terms of performance. This board hits a nice middle point in terms of giving very solid performance for a reasonable price.The built-in graphics are easily good enough for most purposes, although I assume top-end gamers would disagree. The same goes for the built-in audio.There are SATA disk connections, an external firewire connection, half a dozen external USB2 connections (and more internal). These give the board decent "modern" connectivity. But for those who may need some legacy support, there are also connections for a floppy disk drive (remember those?) and a serial port.I assume the BIOS facilities are fairly standard, allowing the system to boot from a floppy, from a CD, from the disk, or from the network.The board came with good instructions and the purpose of all connection points was made clear. There were very few jumper settings to mess with, and those that there were came in a sensible configuration so that you didn't need to touch them. Constructing the machine consisted of just plugging everything into the appropriate spot.I used this board to construct a Linux (Ubuntu) box, and everything has worked perfectly.

Gosh!!!

The board came quickly and left no doubt in its genuity. Packed properly etc. However, when I was installing the board, my scredriver slipped and scatched it. In fact, it cut through some vital paths rendering the board inoperable. What kind of product is this if it can't withstand being handled by an idiot?!... Otherwise.... if you are not one, buy with confidence.

Worked great as a replacement motherboard

Used this motherboard as a replacement for an older model that used slightly older equipment. It worked great and tested fine on burn-in tests. The owner of the system I was working on said his system is running better than it ever has, which leads me to believe that his old board had issues from the start.
