Great Rack!

I bought this for a 2000 BMW 5-Series a year ago and have never regretted it once. Both rack bars fit perfectly and screw in with a single screw. A special Allen wrench is included to lock the screws down. Thieves cannot remove the bars unless they have that special wrench. The feet for the bars are rubber coated to help protect your paint. There are also a couple of washers for each scew that fall off easily when you remove the rack from the car. I lost two already, but found suitable replacements at a hardware store. Overall, a great product. I would not hesitate to buy one.

Have only used it once to carry a kayak but it's easy to put together and fits perfectly on my roof. Once you've put it together it takes 5 mins to put on or take off the car.I didn't buy the locks but I guess someone could take the rack pretty easily if they really wanted to.

This is a great rack for an e46 3 or e39 5 series owners...a custom fit in the built-in roof rack mounting points that accepts a wide range of bike/ski/snowboard/kayak/dinosaur carriers. ;-)Contrary to another review, the correct mounting screws are included and the rack mounts completely securely to my car (e39). The person complaining about that must have gotten a rack w/missing screws. The rack mounts w/out touching any paint or other visible surfaces of your roof. You open the four little flaps on the roof of the car and the legs sit in the small area below them. Great design by BMW.Functionality is perfect - I have two Thule Sidearm bike carriers I use with it, and they go on and come off the 753 rack easily and quickly. When I mount my bikes they are rock solid.There is some wind noise w/the rack installed, but it isn't excessive or bothersome. I may try adding a fairing at some point, but am still not sure that it's really worth it.Overall highly recommended for 3/5 series BMW owners.
