Product Description

The Moog Music MF-107 Moogerfooger FreqBox gives you effects that were once only possible with a modular synth setup, all in single pedal. How? Instead of modifying the input signal to produce an altered version of the sound source, the FreqBox uses a Voltage Controlled Oscillator (VCO) to provide a startling array of effects, from fuzz distortion to glitching sweeps to as-yet-unnamed sonic creations. The VCO controls can also be manipulated by an expression pedal. Get the Moog experience in compact pedal form with the Moog Music Moogerfooger FreqBox.

5Gifted
By Jason Harrington
I bought this for my wife as a gift. She tried it on her guitar but found it to be too unpredictable for that application (she plays a Gibson SG through a VOX tube amp without any pedals). However, when she tried it on her Roland SH-01 synthesizer, she got amazing results. In our band, Cardiofluxus, which is a sort of experimental electro-pop, some of my beats have both distortion and subsonic bass, so her SH-01 by itself was getting buried underneath all my sampler mayhem (I use a Roland SP404SX, a Korg KP3, and a Kaossilator Pro, in a daisey chain set-up). The freqbox provides her that extra edge to cut through any sort of noise, because it's as if she was playing two synths in sync, so no matter if my beats have hissing highs or ruthless lows, she can always be heard through it, by maintaining two (or more) separate bands in the EQ for a much more complex tone. The SH-01 might come loaded with filters, but there is no true analog or tube built in, so the tone just gets more wet and murky with the on-board effects. Now, all the knobs on her synth are sort of supercharged because they fuel a whole separate tone. This is great for musicians on a budget who want that analog feel without having to charge it to a stupid Guitar Center card.Get one of these!PS: I do not encourage you to buy this at Guitar Center like I did, because they shut down nearly every mom and pops guitar shop that hired knowledgeable people, in exchange for a wall of guitars and a dozen junior high kids who never heard of Frank Zappa. The 10% discount we got was not enough to justify giving them my business. I only did it so it would not ship to my house and ruin the b-day surprise.

3Not as awesome as I hoped
By Louis Vigo
I finally got my hands on this a few months ago. Its not as easily usable as I thought it would be. The sound clips on the Moog site make it sound awesome, but I've yet to make it sound awesome. It seems that for guitar there is a small range of usable sounds, but its a good range. I'll keep working with it and maybe share a few settings here. If your looking to use this for guitar I'd do more homework and watch reviews on youtube or something. If I would have researched it more I would have looked at the Line 6 FM4, perhaps that would have been more of what I wanted. But I got what I got and I'm going to explore all the possibilities before moving on to another option
