The Beginning Builder Playset includes a fully featured front-loading Dump Truck. Drive it using the wireless infrared controller dedicated only to the ROK Jr. Dump Truck. It offers intuitive, easy-to-master steering and dumping controls and it fits comfortably in one hand. Also included is the Motorized Conveyor, with a built-in sensor that automatically activates when loaded by the Dump Truck. Requires 9 "AA" batteries, not included. Measures 12.25" x 33" x 22".

Fun but Frustrating

My son just turned 4 and received this as a gift from Grandma. He LOVES it. I love it too ... with one exception; The pieces don't stay together very well. This is primarily an issue with the "ball shoots." They are design to rotate, but WAY TOO often the ball shoots come off of the conveyer. My 4 year old can fix it, when he's so inclined, but I hear a lot of "daddy, can you fix this." This is also true of the press-fit roadway - it comes apart less often, but it's harder for him to reassemble. This can be VERY frustrating for him as well as for me. Perhaps nothing a little duct tape can't fix :)I should mention that my younger son is 2-1/2 ... this too complex for him.Apart from that this is a fun toy that is well designed.- The remote control is easy for him to understand and operate.- He doesn't need to steer on the roadway; the truck is guided by a track- The truck and conveyer power down when not in use- The conveyer turns itself on when it senses a ball in the hopper- The conveyer is as much fun as the truck- the ease at which things come apart means there are less things that will breakI would give this 5 stars if it held together better ... or it came with a tube of superglue.As a side note, the balls are pretty small and could be a chocking hazard for younger siblings. There are about 16 balls and they are hard to keep track of.

Educational and FUN!!

I bought this set for my 3 1/2 year old after he couldn't stop playing with it at a Robotics show. 6 months later and he still loves playing with it. The tracks, ball levers and conveyor belt has kept him fascinated with how things work. The "child" joystick for remote control has made it extremely easy for him to learn how to maneuver the dump truck. And in all honesty I spend a bit of time playing with the set myself when he's not. :) Great product. Well worth the money.

We bought this toy for my son who just turned 4. I was lucky enough to be able to buy MANY pieces of Rokenbok for 70% off at a local store. I got everything but the starter set. I read that this set was compatible with other Rokenbok so I chose this one because the age seemed more appropriate. The problem is that this set does NOT come with the control pad and the "keys" to put in the vehicles. It works just like other remote toys with batteries in both the controller (which is different) and the vehicle. Now I have a starter set that will not work with all the other pieces that I have, which means more money to invest to get the controller and keys. The toy is great, but you can't add it to other sets with vehicles.
