5Works great
By david
I've had mine for about a year now and it still works great. Fairly easy to install (but it takes a little while), and definitely much easier than removing the cover by hand.Edit: 4 years now, still working great.

5Happy Customer!
By Fuzzball
When my husband and I purchased our spa, the salesman asked if we wanted a cover lift. We mistakenly said no. Manuevering the heavy spa cover off and on took away a lot of the relaxation benefits. The spa company was selling the Cover Mate for $250, so I went on Amazon to find a better deal. After reading the mostly positive reviews, I decided to purchase the Cover Valet Hydrolic Cover Lift.My husband, who has a background in construction so is pretty handy, installed the cover lift in 2-3 hours. It. Is. Amazing. You fold the first half of the spa cover onto the second half and then you lift both halves off the spa. It works very well with our spa model (Hot Springs-Sovereign...holds 6 people). As long as you can fold the first half of the cover onto the second (the lifter does not help you with this part), you can use this lift. Removing the spa cover was very easy, and I could lift the cover with one hand if I wanted to (and I wouldn't say I have great upper-body strength...I like to bowl with an 8 lb. bowling ball). In terms of physical strength required, I would compare it to lifting a gallon of milk with one hand from the fridge onto a kitchen counter. If you can do that easily then you should not have a problem. However, I would imagine that the weight you need to lift would be heavier if you have a larger spa so keep that in mind.A few things to note. First, this is not the lift you want if you want a 360 view from your spa. The cover will completely block one side. Second, the side mount brackets are a possible bruise maker. The side brackets jut out a couple of inches from the spa, and if you aren't aware of it, you could walk into a bracket corner when the cover is lifted. The bracket edge is rounded, but it's metal and will still hurt.I asked my husband if he could give any installation tips. He said that he looked at the Cover Valet Product Review on Youtube by a user named poolandspamoose. The video does not show you everything but gives you an idea of how it should look at the end. Also, he mounted the side mount bracket with the narrow side flush against the spa and the wide side sticking out (the instructions do not specify which side to use). It looks like you can use either side, but that's what we used and it works. So far I'm very happy with this spa lifter, and I hope it lasts for a long time...I will update if it breaks. By the way, the seller I used, Hot Tub Warehouse, was excellent in delivering the product (it took four days to ship via FedEx...a few days earlier than the Amazon estimated delivery date.)

5Should have bought one when I bought the tub
By Patrick A. Bowman
I didn't think that I would need a lift when I bought my tub. That was a mistake. The cover valet was so simple to install and easy to use. My wife can now get the cover on and off without any help. It also acts as a wind guard in which I strategically placed it where it would block the cold winter winds. I should have purchased it many years ago!
