The AIE sealer works just like it says. It's even easier to use than I thought it would be. Just plug it in and in seconds it's ready to go. Great price. Arrived very quickly also. Highly recommended.

Good product, poor customer service

I ordered the hand sealer with cutter from Techni-Tool, but I received the one without the cutter, a considerable difference. I understand that mistakes happen, but no one could help me when I repeatedly contacted customer service. It took 4 days before they finally returned my phone calls, and even then a resolution was difficult to reach. If you receive the correct product, it works great, but if something goes wrong, customer service for this company is a nightmare.

If you use mylar bags for food storage--this impulse sealer is a must. It is far superior to using a flat iron, etc. If you are serious about dry storage then you should invest in an impulse sealer to insure that the bags are properly sealed.Operation is a breeze.1. Plug in the power cord (no warm-up time).2. Fill the mylar bag (avoid over-filling).3. Place the top (open end) of the bag on the teflon covered lower plate of the sealer.4. Lower the arm and press onto the bag.5. Hold the arm down until the sealer is done (a few seconds, max). I always hold the arm for a few seconds more while the bag cools off.6. Carefully release the arm and remove the bag from the sealer.The duration of the impulse (the time during which the heating element is hot) is variable (controlled by a knob on the front of the unit. Adjustment is easy: if you aren't getting a good seal--increase the duration of the impulse by turning the knob clockwise. If you are burning the bag, reduce the impulse by turning the knob counter-clockwise. I found that once I had converged to a 'sweet spot' for the particular bags we were using, I could continue to use that setting over many sessions without having to fine tune the impulse duration.Note that the teflon shields and the heater element do wear out with use and will eventually have to replaced. The unit comes with one set of spares for the first replacement. Ordering my first set of replacement parts was a little tricky--I couldn't find replacement kits on line that were clearly compatible with this sealer. I called the factory direct, and they were most helpful and promptly shipped the spares.This particular sealer is perfect for the 11" by 13", 7 mil mylar bags commonly used for food storage. If you are working with a different size bag, you may wish to consider other sealers from AIE.
